Have you ever wanted to run your own video game company? As much as I enjoy writing about games, I have a secret passion to someday be involved with the industry that I’ve grown up loving so much from a very early age. Since my resume has been rejected numerous times for being too awesome, I’m happy that a game like Game Dev Story exists as I can finally live out my dream of being the head honcho behind my own video game development studio from the comfort of my iPhone & Android devices. Best of all, the game is on sale today on both platforms which would be the perfect addition to your game library.
Game Dev Story at its core is a simulation game with some 16-bit style graphics. You start off as the head of your own video game studio with a small amount of employees. Your first task is to hire some new blood in order to help your studio progress to creating games. You’ll first need to take on some contracts from various sources such as creating ringtones, CGI graphics, or an entire game engine. Once you have enough money to purchase a license to produce a game for a particular video game console, you’ll then be able to choose the game’s genre, type, and the direction your team will take the game.
I stumbled onto Game Dev Story earlier this week and I must say that it might not sound too thrilling on paper, it’s completely the opposite once you get into it. It has also taught me what a real video game studio goes through in order to create games and I now have an even deeper appreciation for what they do thanks to this game. So turn your couch upside down for some spare change as you have no excuse why you shouldn’t pick up Game Dev Story today at its sale price of $.99 for the iPhone version and $1.20 for the Android version.
