Samsung Galaxy S getting Android 2.2.1 update as we speak!

Before you go “finally” I must disappoint you. The Android 2.2.1 update we’re talking about here doesn’t affect Galaxy S versions that are sold in the U.S. In other words, it is not available for those of you with the Samsung Fascinate, Vibrant, Captivate or Epic 4G. Unfortunately, some of you will still have to wait for another week or two.

Initially Galaxy S owners needed to have Samsung Kies software installed on their PCs, but soon afterwards the Korean company allowed for over-the-air update, as well.

It is said that Android 2.2.1 will take care of few bugs and security glitches, overall making the device more stable. Furthermore, some users have also reported their devices run faster after the update.

So what can I say? If you own the Samsung Galaxy S make sure to update it like right away. Before proceeding, however, it is advised that you backup all your data just in case something goes wrong. Good luck! ;)

crappy camera, i might say. worse image processor.

and now lets talk about Samsung’s indifference to it’s market. i just bought my business its third android…and it’s back to HTC. I think I’ll wait for an HTC tablet too. Done with Samsung. Great screen, but an android device is more than a screen.

    Wtf? Are you daft?

The 2.2 update for the non-US variants has been out for a WHILE now, and you JUST posted this today??

    ‘Before you go “finally”‘ ???

Gotta say though Epic vs Evo, epics camera quality is extremely comparable to evo. Photo wise, It may be 3mp less but Evo’s pictures looked a bit smudged when zoomed in. Video wise, The HTC Evo delivers a 15-20fps poorly lit lack of comparason, Meanwhile Samsung Galaxy Epic has good lighting, smooth frame rate and a crisper image

You were referring to US variants? But you said this:

“The Android 2.2.1 update we’re talking about here doesn’t affect Galaxy S versions that are sold in the U.S”

But the Vibrant is getting the update now. Suppose you coulda written that.

Before you comment you all need to do some research.

This article is in reference to 2.2.1 not 2.2, huge difference.

This update solves the lag with the froyo update.
