Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to land on Verizon Wireless

Sony Ericsson made the Xperia Play officially, official today and confirmed the handset will land on Verizon Wireless. As expected the Xperia Play will be Sony Ericsson’s answer to the Xbox Live integration on Microsoft’s Windows Phone handsets. The handset will feature a PlayStation Certified gaming experience and will launch with more than 50 high-profile gaming titles. Under the hood, the Xperia Play will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1Ghz processor and the Adreno 205 enhanced graphical processor unit. Gaming will be enhanced by the integrated Playstation-style gaming controller that slides out when you are ready for some gaming action.

Besides it gaming features, the Xperia Play will include a 4-inch capacitive, multi-touch display and a 5-megapixel camera. Android 2.3 Gingerbread will be the operating system of choice. The gaming-centric Android handset will debut on Verizon Wireless starting this spring. A GSM variant will aslo be available globally in select markets starting in March.
