A 12,000mAh battery in a tablet sounds almost absurd, but that’s exactly what a freshly leaked image of the Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro 12.5 appears to show. And honestly, for a device positioning itself at the top of Xiaomi’s tablet range, it makes a lot of sense.
According to Android Treasure, a real-world photo showing the tablet’s “About device” page has surfaced online, confirming the full name as “Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro 12.5.” That screen also confirms a 12.5-inch display and 16GB of RAM. So right away, you’re looking at a seriously specced-out slate, at least on paper.
The chipset choice is probably the most interesting detail here. The leak points to Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 processor, the same chip that’s rumored to power the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Fold. That’s significant. It tells you Xiaomi isn’t treating this tablet as a mid-cycle filler, it’s slotting the Pad 8S Pro right alongside its most premium hardware. The Xring O3 is Xiaomi’s first serious attempt at building its own high-end silicon, so seeing it appear in a tablet leak this early says something about how confident the company is in that chip.
On the camera side, the Pad 8S Pro is expected to come with a 50-megapixel primary rear camera and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there’s a 32-megapixel shooter for video calls and selfies. Tablet cameras are rarely a headline reason to buy, but 32MP on the front is solid for anyone who does a lot of remote work or video conferencing on a bigger screen.
The software shown in the image is HyperOS 4.0, though the exact Android version underneath isn’t clear yet. The build also appears to be a Chinese variant, which suggests the unit photographed is a pre-production prototype. Whether or not a global version is coming remains completely unknown at this point. That’s worth keeping in mind before you get too excited.

If that plays out, the Pad 8S Pro would be the last device in the Pad 8 lineup before Xiaomi pivots to the Pad 9 series, which is expected to arrive alongside the Xiaomi 18 family sometime in September. So this isn’t a product with a long shelf life in the lineup, but it could still be the most powerful Android tablet Xiaomi has shipped to date. That counts for something. Pricing and global availability are still anyone’s guess, but with specs like these, it’s a device worth watching closely.
