Marvell announced what looks as a super-promising product – PXA978 single-chip solution that features 3G UMTS and China’s TD SCDMA standards with HSPA support. It is said this is the industry’s first such product which in addition to being able to provide fast mobile data in China and the rest of the world, also includes a high performance 1.2 GHz application processor and advanced 3D graphics and 1080p multimedia to the mix.
To put it in other words, the PXA978 paves the way for an all-in-one smartphone for business folks working and/or travelling often to China. Additionally, a device that’s powered by Marvell’s latest product is also ideal for many of the China Mobile’s customers (China Mobile uses TD-SCDMA), who can keep the phone they’ve been using at home even when travelling abroad.
In the rest of the press release, Marvell talks about its world phone development platform, which is said to be the first and only to feature R7 3G UMTS and TD-SCDMA with HSPA, and the first Mobile MIMO Wi-Fi(n) solution – Avastar 88W8797.
