Navigation by TeleNav now available for free on Verizon Android smartphones

Good news for Verizon Wireless customers with an Android smartphone – you can now get Navigation by TeleNav free of charge! Pretty much any Android device will work, including the Motorola Droid X, Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Incredible.

The application comes with turn-by-turn 3D navigation with human-spoken driving directions, Multiple Route Suggestions, ability to customize your route (to avoid toll roads or traffic congestion) and local search that pulls data from a 22 million entry-strong database consisting of local businesses, restaurants, landmarks and more.

Not enough for you? Grab a Premium version which is discounted until March 31st, and offered for 50% off regular price ($19.99). Included in the premium app, you get access to the following features:

  • Rerouting to avoid traffic and accidents with proactive traffic alerts
  • View posted speed limits for the road you’re driving on and receive an alert if you exceed it
  • Red Light Camera and Speed Trap Alerts
  • Lane assist – helps you choose the right lane to be in preparation for the next maneuver on your route
  • Commute Alerts with traffic information for your daily drive
  • In-depth business profiles of local businesses with ratings, deals and business hours

Nicely done TeleNav. Free stuff gets our attention, like all the time. ;)
