NTT DoCoMo USA, which is a subsidiary of Japanese NTT DoCoMo, will on April 6 launch a mobile phone service mainly for Japanese living in the U.S. From what I’ve understood they’ll launch an MVNO operation, which will use rely on one of the existing carriers’ networks.
I know you’re thinking something like “I can’t wait to grab their awesome phones,” but unfortunately I must dissapoint you. They said only three phone models will be offered, including one BlackBerry device. This, however, doesn’t mean something cooler isn’t in the pipeline, but at the moment – we don’t have such information.
The new service will carry a basic monthly fee of at least $15 and a communications charge of 13 cents per minute for domestic calls. The mentioned basic fee will come with at least 100 minutes of free calls…
Nice but now enough… unfortunately. ;(
