Puzzle Quest 2 for iOS Receives Highly-Anticipated Multiplayer & Retina Display Support

Namco’s Puzzle Quest 2 was released last December and we absolutely loved the game. We felt Namco did a fantastic job of delivering a great Puzzle Quest 2 experience that could easily rival the Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, and PC versions as being the best version of Puzzle Quest 2 on any platform. One thing that bugged us about the game was how Namco didn’t offer any sort of multiplayer mode. Well my friends, it looks like Namco has heard all of our pleas as they have just released an update for the game that allows for multiplayer.

The multiplayer mode in Puzzle Quest 2 allows players to go head-to-head with characters they’ve built up in the single-player story. You can play against other players via local through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as taking the fight online through Apple’s Game Center service. The game also features an online leaderboards, which allows you to compare your score with other Puzzle Quest 2 fans through Game Center.

The multiplayer update would be enough cause for celebration, but Namco has also given the iPhone version of Puzzle Quest 2 some more love as the game now supports the iPhone 4’s Retina Display. This was another item that we touched on in our review and we’re glad to see Namco has taken care of that in this update.

With today’s update, Puzzle Quest 2 has become even more appealing to us as we’ve always loved the game as a single-player experience, and now that we can take the fight online, we can’t wait to dive back into the game to show how real men play match-3 puzzle RPG games. And don’t forget that the iPhone version will look super sweet now that it’s received support for Retina Display.
