The Salt Lake City-based hospital system Intermountain Healthcare released a mobile application for iOS and Android-powered devices as part of its campaign to reach out to parents and children about the importance of increasing physical activity and adopting healthier eating habits to prevent obesity. Available as a free download, the LiVe application promises to make it easier to set fitness and healthy eating goals.
For instance, using a roulette function, users can get ideas on how to increase their physical activity. Simply select what type of activity you’re interested in — inside games, outside games, night games — shake the phone, and an activity is suggested.
Moreover, there’s the so called Healthy Food Tracker, from where you can record how many fruits and vegetables you’ve eaten in a given day along with how many servings of water you have had. Likewise, you can record how many physical activities you have done and track the overall progress.
Then there’s an option to invite friends to be part of LiVe, to help them make good choices, be more active and eat healthy foods.
Finally, in case you care, you can access LiVe TV and radio commercials, posters and other information…
