Looking for a powerful QWERTY-packing Android phone on T-Mobile but don’t want to settle for the G2? You’re in luck, as the myTouch 4G Slide (AKA Doubleshot) should be on its way shortly and as you await its arrival you can take a look at these official renders for the hot new device.
What looks to be a solid successor to the myTouch 3G Slide, the handset won’t be short of bells and whistles. The “Doubleshot” is updated in virtually every way and should sit nicely next to the Sensation 4G. Rumored to have a dual-core processor of some sort, the myTouch 4G Slide will be a powerhouse of a phone that’s sure to please.
The handset’s display has been bumped up to 3.7 inches, and features an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, front-facing camera, 768MB of RAM, HSPA+ support, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The only thing that we could live without is the dedicated Genius button, which is featured on most of T-Mobile’s myTouch line. The button replaces the search button found on most Android devices today and is supposed to make things easier for the user, but from our experience it just slows us down with extra steps.
As with the original, we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw T-Mobiles customized version of HTC on the myTouch 4G Slide, which offers up some nice tweaks but if having T-Mobile’s version of Sense means the user must skip out on Sense 3.0, we’d pass if we had the choice. Sense 3.0 is a serious upgrade from previous versions and it will be a huge bummer if this powerful new handset doesn’t ship with it.
Those interested in the device may not have all that long to wait, as the rumored release date for the myTouch 4G Slide is July 6th.
Anyone thinking of picking the myTouch 4G Slide over the Sensation 4G when it debuts?
