New Virgin Mobile ad throws punches at T-Mobile & AT&T merger

A new Virgin Mobile ad is attempting to put T-Mobile in its place, and Spencer and Sarah (Sparah, for those in the know) have a few select words concerning the upcoming merger, and to Magenta’s own Carly. It’s pretty hilarious.

We’ve seen Sprint express its distaste for the upcoming AT&T-Mobile merger more than once, so what better way to do it through humor this time around? The ad starts off like any other T-Mobile TV ads, with a white background and a dumbed-down version of the Magenta-wearing “Carly”. Although she’s quite ‘bubbly’ the T-Mobile spokesperson is painted rather dumb, making her a casualty in a bigger war Sprint is trying to wage.

The ad turns into a bumpin’ party to show just how ‘fun’ it is the be on Virgin Mobile, especially with all of the money you’d be saving with the regional carrier. The ad itself is clever but it does seem to be thrown together. Either way, Sprint has definitely gotten its point across, even though it’s masquerading as Virgin Mobile this time.

Virgin Mobile is definitely a cheaper option than T-Mobile these days but with  limited capabilities, phone selection, and coverage. Those in a metro area who just need their phone to work within said city should be fine with a regional carrier like Virgin Mobile but you best check that coverage map before you step out. Piggy-back riding on Sprint’s network doesn’t make Virgin Mobile the most reliable, but that also keeps it cheap.

Enough of all that, check out the ad below. We hope to see T-Mobile and Carly come up with some sort of rebuttal in the near future. We couldn’t imagine it would be that hard to make fun of Virgin Mobile’s celebrity couple.

Now that Virgin Mobile finally has a desirable phone available, is anyone thinking about making the jump?

This is like Inception of ads. It’s based off T-mobiles commercials, which are based off Apple commercials.

virgin mobile is not a regional carrier, it is a national carrier as it uses the sprint nationwide network.

“I’m contractually obligated to enjoy this.” That was actually quite funny.

sprint should put more money in expanding there network. Sprint network is the worst network out there. The merger isnt going  to put them out of business. The fact that they having but money in expanding there network is. An that when sprint first started it owned the at&T network but sold it to pac bell. Know there made that the network they sold is bigger and better then the the network they got now.
