Honor X80 leak reveals massive 10,000mAh battery and 6.8-inch OLED display

Honor appears ready to push the boundaries of battery life in its mid-range lineup. A new leak suggests the Honor X80 will pack a massive 10,000mAh+ battery into a device with a 6.8-inch OLED display, potentially launching in China as soon as June.

The specifications come from tipster Digital Chat Station, who revealed details about an upcoming Honor X-series phone. While the tipster didn’t explicitly name the device, the timing and specs align with expectations for the Honor X80.

The leaked specifications paint a picture of a device focused on endurance and display quality. The Honor X80 is expected to feature a 6.8-inch LTPS OLED screen with a flat design, 1.5K resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. This represents a slight increase in screen size compared to its predecessor while maintaining the same resolution and refresh rate.

The standout feature is undoubtedly the battery capacity. At over 10,000mAh, this would mark the first time Honor has brought such a large battery to its X-series lineup. The company has previously launched phones with similar battery capacities, but not in this particular product line. The massive battery will be paired with 90W fast charging support, which should help offset the longer charging times typically associated with such large cells.

Under the hood, the device is expected to run on a Snapdragon 6-series chipset, likely the recently announced Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. This would provide a generational upgrade from the Honor X70, which used the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. The phone is also tipped to maintain the shock-resistant body design that has become a hallmark of the X-series.

Color options are expected to include:

  • Mystic Black
  • Moonlight White
  • Lightning Red
  • Vibrant Orange

The timing of this leak is significant for Honor’s strategy in the competitive Chinese smartphone market. The tipster suggests the Honor X80 could perform strongly domestically, citing the success of last year’s Honor X70, which reportedly sold nearly 7 million units. This sales figure demonstrates the appetite for Honor’s mid-range offerings and suggests the X80 could build on that momentum.

For context, the Honor X70 featured a 6.79-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and backed by an 8,300mAh battery with 80W fast charging. Honor also offered wireless charging on the 512GB storage variant of the X70, though it’s unclear if this feature will carry over to the X80.

The move to a 10,000mAh+ battery reflects broader industry trends toward longer battery life, particularly in the mid-range segment where users often prioritize endurance over premium features. With 5G connectivity becoming standard and displays getting larger and more power-hungry, manufacturers are responding with bigger batteries to maintain all-day usage.

If the June launch timeline proves accurate, Honor will be positioning the X80 to compete during the summer smartphone season in China, traditionally a strong period for new device launches. The combination of a large battery, modern display, and competitive pricing could help Honor maintain its momentum in the crucial mid-range market segment.
