If you and a few thousands of your friends were peeved at Verizon Wireless, you may want to file a class-action lawsuit. Not so fast, as Reuters reports that a federal appeals court said customers will have to go at it by themselves through arbitration instead of with class-action lawsuits.

Last year, the 3rd Circuit said that expecting these individuals to go after Verizon for fraudulent cell phone charges individually is kind of ridiculous but a recent Supreme Court decision involving class-action lawsuits and AT&T made the federal appeals court reverse that decision. You can read more about the AT&T case here.

I’m not a lawyer so I can’t speak to the veracity of the decision but I do know that it doesn’t seem like a good thing for customers. While the lawyers generally make the most cash in these deals, a class-action lawsuit can be the easiest and correct way for a large number of consumers to go after a company.
