We all know just how cool and awesome Samsung’s Galaxy S II is. It is arguably the single best Android smartphone you can buy today, not least thank to its gorgeous Super AMOLED Plus screen, tons of built-in storage (16 GB), and super fast 1.2GHz processor. That said, we’re everything but surprised it sold more units on contract than any other Android device during the third week of September, according to figures seen by the Mobile Magazine. What’s more, the Korean company also hit the number one slot for selling the most mobile phones in the UK for 30 (yes that’s thirty) successive weeks!

And that’s like a start. With Christmas shopping season approaching, Samsung is starting a major 12 million GBP “Galaxy Family” marketing campaign to get even more users on board. Like 10 million Galaxy S II units sold thus far is not enough.

Some other figures reported in the same article at the Mobile Magazine’s website show the top selling mobile phone on contract for week 35 (August 29 to September 4): Apple’s iPhone 4 is leading the way with the Galaxy S II holding the second spot. Other phones that managed to hit the list include BlackBerry Curve 9300, HTC Wildfire S, Samsung Galaxy Ace, BlackBerry Curve 8520, BlackBerry Torch 9800, BlackBerry Bold 9780, BlackBerry Bold 9900 and HTC Sensation.
