CounterPath announces video calls for its VoIP apps, BroadWorks integration

We’ve already told you about CounterPath‘s enterprise-grade, SIP-compliant VoIP apps Bria for Android and iPhone. Now the company announced these two will get the video support, starting with the Bria iPhone Edition later this fall. As a result, CounterPath users will be able to check the availability and status of colleagues, friends and family members, send an instant message or SMS/text message, and quickly launch a voice call and/or video call whether they are at home, in the office or on the go.

In addition, CounterPath also announced integration with BroadSoft’s BroadWorks platform through the implementation of the most used features leveraging BroadSoft’s Xtended Services Interface (XSI), offering end-users key features and settings accessible from both the Bria desktop and mobile softphone applications. Among the supported services are Remote Office, Simultaneous Ring (when multiple numbers ring simultaneously when any call is received), BroadWorks Anywhere (extends the features of a desk phone to any other fixed or mobile device), Call Forwarding/Do Not Disturb, Contact and Call History…

The video enabled version of CounterPath’s Bria for iPhone will be available later this fall with the Android and iPad versions coming in early 2012. Bria for BroadWorks for iPhone will be available later this year with Android and iPad versions available early 2012.
