Motorola announced both CDMA and GSM-based versions of the RAZR, but apparently that’s not enough. The American handset maker will also have a version of the device for China, marked as MT917. The upcoming phone will rock a TD-SCDMA radio, hinting us it’s heading to China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of number of subscribers.
However, the Chinese RAZR will come with slightly changed design, featuring rounded edges. Not sure why that’s the case, though.
Aside from the mentioned 3G radio, the rest of MT917′s specs will remain the same (when compared to the original RAZR) and include an 8-megapixel camera on the back, 4.3-inch qHD (540×960 pixels) touchscreen, and the ultra-slim body with Kevlar fiber on the back.
Release date is unknown and so is the price. We do know you won’t be able to grab this baby outside of China, and honestly – you don’t want to since that TD-SCDMA radio is useless elsewhere…
