LG has announced an event for December 1st and may intro the US version of the Optimus LTE, otherwise known as the Nitro HD for AT&T. The handset itself is filled to the brim with high-end specs and should serve AT&T well as one of its newer LTE devices.
The Optimus LTE sports a 4.5 inch True HD IPS 1280 x720 display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, LTE and HSPA+ support, 8 megapixel camera, front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, and more, making it one hell of a device. The display is particularly interesting, as the True HD IPS display should definitely bring a wow factor into the mix. The HTC Rezound uses a Super LCD display, where the Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses a HD Super AMOLED display, so it will be interesting to put the three handsets head to head to head.
While the handset won’t ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Gingerbread-toting Nitro HD will likely get the update in early 2012, like every other handset that isn’t the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. That shouldn’t discourage you from grabbing this handset, though, as it’s one sexy and powerful piece of hardware.
AT&T’s current LTE handset lineup is limited to only the two devices at the moment and the Nitro HD could very well be the best of the bunch. Still, the HTC Vivid and Galaxy S II Skyrocket are both great phones for even better prices and the Nitro HD could make the limited selection a force to be reckoned with.
All that said, the announcement could be something completely different. We’ll keep those worries off to the side until we’re proved wrong, as we’re definitely interested in some LG/HD/LTE goodness.
