What is a Windows Phone

Being an editor at IntoMobile I get to respond to many different mobile-related questions my friends have. It’s not that I mind that much – it’s just when you say something 10 times, you want to write it down so you don’t have to repeat yourself on and on.

One such question is “What is a Windows Phone.” And there are two answers here:

  1. It’s a smartphone running Microsoft’s mobile OS – Windows Phone
  2. It’s a smartphone platform (OS) developed by Microsoft that supersedes Windows Mobile

Of course, that’s just the first part of the equation, cause the next question is – which phones are those?

To that I say – there are number of different Windows Phone models made by the major handset makers like LG, Samsung, Acer, Dell and Nokia, with more companies joining the trend.

Finally to the “which is the best Windows Phone device” question I answer – HTC Titan. Yeah, it’s kinda bulky with its 4.7-inch screen but it’s well worth the money… if you want a Windows Phone device, that is.

I have Omnia 7 with mango and I’m very satisfied, bud major drawback is lack of call timer, data counter and you can’t increase font size in sms & email.

Do as HTC, stop Android in phones and they sell like hot cakes

Just received the HTC Titan a fews days ago. Upgraded from an iPhone 4 and I have been an iPhone user since the beginning. I am definitively enjoying the refreshing interface. Love the Titans massive screen. Windows Phone should go mainstream soon.

I’m in the mood for something smaller.  I have an HD7, but I think I’m gonna get an iPhone 4S.  After using an iTouch for a while I realized the smaller screen isn’t even an issue, and the app quality is higher on iOS than on Android and especially WP7.  The HTC Titan is just too big.  Excessively so.  4.3″ is already big for me.  A 4.7″ screen or device bigger than my HD7 is off-limits to me.
