Last week we reviewed the LG Nitro HD for AT&T, one of AT&T’s first smartphones to support 4G LTE, and we gave it a 7 out of 10 because thought it was an incredibly average device. On paper the Nitro HD should be absolutely amazing thanks to the 1.5 GHz dual core processor under the hood, 4.5 inch 720p LCD, and ability to access a blazingly fast wireless network, but something about it just felt wrong. The software was laggy, the skin that LG put on top of Android felt like a beta form of one of the first versions of Samsung TouchWIZ, and the camera was just pathetic. Thanks to PocketNow we now know that Verizon is going to get this device and they’re going to call it the LG Spectrum. The photo below is all we have to share with you guys, sadly we have no word on the Spectrum’s release date or price, but don’t fret since we’ll probably get more details about this thing at the Consumer Electronics Show next month.

Now pretend Verizon just announced the Spectrum. Should you buy it? Of course not, it’s not even up for consideration. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is right around the corner. It runs the latest version of Google Android, it doesn’t have any annoying skins, and since it’s a flagship device it’ll probably have better battery life than what we experienced with the LG Nitro HD and will likely experience with the LG Spectrum. There really is no other Android smartphone worth getting right now. Even the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, despite it having 4G LTE connectivity, we’d honestly rather import an HSPA+ European Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
What say you oh dear Android fanbois, is there any device out now or a device that’ll be out in the near future that even comes close to the Nexus? Or is everything on the market about as boring as Ferris Bueller’s economics teacher?
