Buying a Verizon Galaxy Nexus today? Here’s where to look

The highly anticipated, Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus goes on sale today. It’s the first Android handset to ship with Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich. It’s a monster of a phone with a spacious 4.65-inch touchscreen display and 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. If you’re buying one, here’s a list of locations for you to comparison shop. You will notice two prices as most retailers add $50 for existing customers who upgrade their line. The lower price is for customers buying a new line of service.

  • Verizon Wireless Stores – $299 with a two-year contract; $649 out of contract.
  • Verizon Wireless Online – $299 with a two-year contract; $649 out of contract. Free overnight shipping.
  • Fry’s Electronics – $219/$249 with a two-year contract; $709 out of contract.
  • Wirefly – $189/$239  with a two-year contract; $709 out of contract.
  • Amazon Wireless – $199/$249 with a two-year contract; $739 out of contract.
  • Let’s Talk – $229 with a two-year contract; $729 out of contract. Use coupon  “$75VZN”  to save an extra $75. Free overnight shipping.
  • Best Buy – $299 with a two-year contract; $799 out of contract.
  • Radio Shack – $189/$239 with a two-year contract; $709 out of contract.

If you must have the handset today, then your local Verizon Wireless corporate store, Best Buy or Radio Shack retailer is your best bet. The locations near me had plenty of stock and no lines, but you may want to call ahead just in case.
