Remember when AT&T had data outages all the time? Those days are gone and Verizon is now the one experiencing some growing pains as it rolls out its LTE network. According to reports on Verizon support forums and twitter, it appears that Verizon is suffering from another nationwide outage that’s affecting its 4G and possibly its 3G network.
Reports are all over the place – some people, like me, have no problems with their 3G connection, while others are down on both 3G and 4G. Affected areas include New York, California, Illinois, New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas. Verizon’s support account on Twitter is handling complaints about the outage, but the carrier has not officially confirmed the outage. If you are a Verizon customer without 3G/4G service, you can commiserate with your fellow customers in the comments.
Update: Verizon issued the following statement to ZDNet confirming the outage which affected it 4G network.
Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service is returning to normal this morning, after company engineers worked to resolve an issue with the 4G network during the early morning hours today. Throughout this time, 4G LTE customers were able to make voice calls and send and receive text messages. The 3G data network operated normally.
