Amazon is rolling out a new software update for its Kindle Fire 6.2.2 over the air, though those of you who don’t want to wait can manually install the latest firmware at any moment. Before you do that, you want to know what’s included – the new software brings:
- Enhanced fluidity and performance
- Improved support for manually setting up email providers in the email app
- Full-screen browsing
And if you still haven’t been prompted to update, here’s how to do it right away:
- First of all make sure your Kindle Fire has at least 40% battery charge.
- Download the update file from here.
- Plug-in your Kindle Fire to a computer and open a file explorer.
- Move the update-kindle-6.2.2_D01E_3205220 file to the “kindleupdates” folder on the Kindle Fire.
- Disconnect your Kindle Fire.
- Go to the quick settings at the top of the screen; choose More -> Update your Kindle.
And that’s it. Now simply wait for the process to end after which you’ll have the latest firmware running on your 7-inch tablet. 😉
