HTC’s Ville is quickly becoming one of the worst kept secrets in the mobile industry. Last week a video surfaced on the internets showing off the unannounced smartphone, and while it was good enough to demonstrate how thin the Ville is, it wasn’t exactly what one would call sharp. Now though, thanks to the Chinese website ePrice, we have four new images of the Ville that are bright as day and paint a good picture of what we can expect. In short, it’s the HTC Sensation that was announced last year, but flattened like a pancake. Design issues aside, this thing is supposedly rocking a Qualcomm S4 processor under the hood. If true then that would mean a huge improvement in battery life, performance, and hey, it might even have 4G LTE support for the American markets! Seeing as how we haven’t played with any S4 equipped devices, we can’t really say much about smartphones built around that chip, but on paper it looks to be amazing. Other specs include an 8 megapixel camera and a 4.3 inch 960 x 540 pixel display.
Earlier this week we reported that HTC was having a bit of a problem pulling in revenues. Make no mistake, the Ville is no where near exciting enough to fix that. That being said, it is just one of four devices expected to be announced later this month in Barcelona. The others are a high end quad core device called the Edge, and a pair of mid range devices. Depending on how each of these things are priced, we’ll know whether or not they’ll be hits, but something tells us that Samsung is going to steal the show once again. They might not be announcing the Galaxy S III this month, but they do plan on refreshing the Galaxy S II by giving it a newer version of Android and more power efficient processor.
