Even though it broke up with Ericsson, Sony plans to keep using the Xperia brand and has already announced first Sony-only-branded products at the CES – Sony Xperia ion and Sony Xperia S. Now the Japanese company has filed a trademark for “Xperia Sola” at United States Patent and Trademark Office, with that term (patent number 85528680) covering the category of “Mobile phones and accessories”. Unfortunately we don’t have any other details to share at the moment and as far as we can tell, Xperia Sola could be just another name for one of the existing Sony products (like Xperia S). Then again, it could be a completely new device, which (we hope) could be announced at the big event in Spain. Sony will host its own press event a day before Mobile World Congress and yep we’ll be there to spread the good news.
