Not exactly a mobile news, but pretty cool, nonetheless. EA is bringing three Pogo social games to the sky, including First Class Solitaire, MONOPOLY and Mahjong Safari. The games are available for free on Gogo’s new in-air multimedia platform, which is currently live on all Gogo equipped Alaska Airlines and select Delta Air Lines flights.

So if you want to play some games while flying, you’ll have to get Gogo’s in-air Internet service, and log-in using your Pogo account. A segment pass to access the Internet through Gogo costs anywhere between $1.95 and $14.95 depending on the length of the flight, which is like nothing compared to the “benefits” you’ll be getting.

And you can find out what airlines offer access to Pogo (sounds kinda funny) from Gogo’s Facebook page.

Finally, before I let you go, here’s what Beatrice Spaine (Vice President, Publishing Pogo at Electronic Arts) had to say about this scheme: “Pogo games offer the perfect distraction for the plane. Sometimes you just need five minutes of fun to improve your mood on a long flight. Our games are easy enough to pick up and play and entertaining enough to keep you seated for an entire cross-country flight.”
