Android or iOS owners should check their respective app stores because Twitter has a fresh, new update for you to download. It’s a modest improvement which includes support for a new, time-saving gesture that lets you swipe a tweet and then reply, retweet, favorite or share it right from your timeline. You can now swipe and view a user’s profile, too.

Twitter also added a new privacy safeguard that will alert you when you select “Find Friends.” This little notification is a reminder that this feature will upload your contacts’ email addresses and phone numbers so you can find your friends faster on Twitter.

Besides the above features, Android users will notice that Twitter for Android is now optimized for Ice Cream Sandwich devices and tablet eReaders like the Kindle Fire and the Nook tablets. iOS users will notice the biggest differences, however. Twitter for iOS brings back both the ability to mark all direct messages as read and the option to copy and paste text from tweets and user profiles. The app has new link options that let you tweet, copy, or mail a link. You can also opt to read the link at a later time. If you get a chance to check out the updates, let us know in the comments what you think.
