We all knew that quad-core would be a major story at Mobile World Congress 2012 and the LG Optimus 4X HD is an early contender for the best phone of the show. We got a chance to play with it on the show floor, so take a look.
With a 4.7-inch True IPS display, the Optimus 4X HD has an amazing screen. Our own Blake Stimac was walking by this device with a stock photo on it and he was convinced that it was just a dummy unit with a sticker on it. That’s how crisp this display is.
Inside, you have that Tegra 3 chip with the 4-PLUS-1 architecture that provides a ton of horsepower. We didn’t spend too much time putting it through the paces but games like Shadowgun looked beautiful and switching between apps was a breeze.
The Optimux 4X HD will also launch with Ice Cream Sandwich and LG’s user interface layer on top. We’ve been a little dissapointed with previous LG UIs but this one looks pretty fresh and it doesn’t detract from the experience at all. Best of all, this thing is super fast – you’ll see in the video how responsive it is to touch and how quickly it can swipe through screens.
You can also look forward to an 8-megeapixel camera, 4G LTE and all the goodies you’d expect from a super-duper smartphone. Are any of you planning to pick one of these up?
