Instagram Android web page live, no app in sight

The wildly popular photo sharing application Instagram is finally on its way to Android. We knew Instagram was coming to Android some weeks ago, but no one had a clue when the application was going to release.

Well, the good news is the photo sharing company has put up an opened registration page for Android device owners, giving them the chance to be “first in line,” when it officially launches. The bad news is, you’ll have to wait for a notification to be sent to you when a beta version of the application is ready, while details on a specific launch date for the official application is unknown.

The company has been doing many things to improve user experience, like striking a photo sharing partnership with Hipstamatic. Instagram has somewhere north of 27 million iOS users already, so it’s almost for certain that it’ll take Android by storm when it lands in the Google Play and Amazon Appstore.

What’ll be interesting to see is the quality of the Android application compared to its iOS brethren. Kevin Systrom, cofounder of Instagram claims the Android version is better, stating: ““In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy.” That is a sparingly bold statement considering how good the iPhone version is, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves.

Don’t forget to sign up, especially if you want to be the first in the know when it finally does hit Android handsets.
