The maker of the wildly popular Angry Birds franchise, Rovio Entertainment, in an acquire-hire type of deal has just bought another Finnish gaming company by the name of Futuremark Games Studio. This acquisition was for an undisclosed amount, but according to many VentureBeat its a deal said to be one driven by the company’s desire for some new talent.

Discussing the acquisition Mikael Hed, Rovio Entertainment’s chief executive, in a statement said, “They are an incredibly talented and experienced team, and we are thrilled to have them on board.” He added, “Rovio’s success is founded on the excellence of our team, and Futuremark Games Studio is going to be a superb addition.”

Apparently, this deal allows for both Rovio and Futuremark to focus on its professional benchmarking of 3D hardware and 3D games. Rovio has been on an ultimate high as of late, with the company’s recent announcement of 10 million downloads of its new Angry Birds Space game in less than three days. So adding new talent to an already creative group of minds can only equal gaming paradise for avid gamers.

The Angry Birds maker has made very smart and strategic moves in the past couple of years, as it slowly puts itself in position to be not only a huge player in mobile gaming, but one for gaming consoles as well.
