Yep, Samsung is committing millions to the upcoming Olympic Games in London to further strengthen its brand. The company’s flagship phone, Galaxy S III, will also be the Olympic Games phone that will be handed over to Samsung and Visa sponsored athletes and trialists to use it to wirelessly pay for goods and services throughout the UK capital. As such, it will come pre-loaded with Visa’s PayWave application which sings along a number of kiosks during the big event.
We already know what Samsung thinks about the Galaxy S III, so here are the words of Visa’s Global Head of Mobile Products Bill Gajda – he said: “The Galaxy S III with NFC technology is part of an evolution that will entirely change the way people shop, pay and get paid all over the world. This summer we will be demonstrating the future of payments in London – a future where most consumers will rely on mobile devices, tablets and PCs to manage their daily financial lives. Our relationship with Samsung gets us closer to that vision, with a stunning new device that is sure to turn heads at the London 2012 Games.”
