U.S. Cellular gets its menu at Amazon Appstore for Android

Instead of making its own app store for Android users, U.S. Cellular has turned to Amazon for help. As a result, it got a customized application menu in the Amazon Appstore for Android, marking the first time some carrier has teamed-up with the online retailer this way.

When U.S. Cellular customers open the Amazon Appstore on most Android-powered devices, they will see a new U.S. Cellular tab, which suggests apps that are pre-selected and approved by U.S. Cellular. Among the applications users will be able to grab from here are games, business tools, and social media with additional apps being added on a regular basis…

I like U.S. Cellular’s approach to get a partner instead of making an app store of its own from scratch. Let’s face it – no matter how much money a carrier puts in its app store, it can’t match Amazon.com, which knows e-commerce best…

What do you think of this move by U.S. Cellular? Like it? Or you think they should’ve made a whole new app store from the scratch?
