ZTE to raise its investment in the U.S. by 10% each year

Security concerns won’t put off ZTE’s plans for the U.S. market. In fact, as part of the plan to smooth over issues raised by the U.S. government, the Chinese company promised to grow its investment in the country by 10% annually.

During a conference in Atlanta, ZTE’s head of North America Lixin Cheng said: “Put simply, we believe Chinese investment in the U.S. is beneficial for businesses in both countries.”

The U.S. House intelligence committee is seeking data from Huawei and ZTE over supposed ties to the Chinese military. Both companies have long maintained that their businesses are legitimate and independent of government influence.

U.S. has been a growing market for ZTE, with the Chinese company offering low-cost smartphones through several carriers. Hopefully this year we’ll also see them entering the high-end space, as well…
