Samsung Display has begun conducting business as a newly merged corporation with Samsung Mobile Display and S-LCD corporations, effectively making the new entity the world’s largest display manufacturer with 39,000 employees and seven production facilities all around the world. Oh-hyun Kwon, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, was elected CEO of Samsung Display at the general meeting of stockholders and board of directors when he said that the new company is “destined to attain virtually unlimited growth.” Not sure what that has to do with destiny, but then again – I’ve no doubts Samsung is on right track to rule the world of electronics.

The plan of the merger is to expand the company’s management efficiencies, while optimizing the synergistic effects of the LCD and OLED business initiatives. The company also intends to strengthen its global competitive edge by combining OLED production technology with precision large panel operations and seasoned supply chain management.

Finally, Samsung Display also got a corporate slogan – “displays beyond imagination.”
