Verizon Wireless will soon add a new mid-end smartphone to its portfolio of LTE devices – Pantech Star Q, which as far as we’ve understood is a successor to last year’s Pantech Breakout.

Specs wise, the Star Q is a rock-solid smartphone under the hood that gets its power from Qualcomm’s snappy Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz. In addition, it also has a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen, side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3-megapixel camera (yup – just three) on the back, front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.0, while Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show. In other words, this could easily be the fastest mid-range Android smartphone ever released — we’re usually seeing Snapdragon S4 coupled with a 720p HD screen and can only imagine how fast it works with a WVGA one.

As for the price, we’re hearing Verizon will ask $99 for the Star Q on a two-year contract – the price that could easily make Pantech’s baby one of the best-selling devices on Verizon’s network…
