And we thought the Nexus 7 is a low-cost device, huh. India-based Karbonn Mobiles unveiled what it says is the world’s cheapest Jelly Bean tablet – Karbonn Smart Tab 1. It was originally released with Ice Cream Sandwich on board, but now it’s getting its dose of Android 4.1.
Detailed specs are not listed on the website, though it’s clear this tablet can’t match the power of Nexus 7. It comes with a MIPS-based 1.2GHz processor, 7-inch screen, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, 2-megapixel camera, 3,700 mAh battery and a memory card slot.
The price is 6,999 Rupees, which is an equivalent of $125, providing quite a bang for the buck. Of course, we suggest everyone to add $75 and grab the Nexus 7, instead. However, we’ve no doubts Karbonn will manage to move enough Smart Tab 1 units to make it a smashing success. We’ll see how that goes and in the meantime, you can get few additional details about this tablet from here.
