Finally, the beta phase is over. Now it’s time to start doing some pinning, folks. Pinterest, the wildly popular social networking site, has announced it is dropping the invite only requirement it once carried in order for users to join. The company posted the news on its blog, and talked about how excited it was to finally give people who’ve been sitting on the sidelines the opportunity to use its platform.

Here’s a statement from the company on its blog:

“We’re really excited to have the capacity to offer Pinterest to more people and if you’re a Pinner with friends who’ve been waiting on the sidelines, we hope you’ll let them know. Happy pinning to everyone!”

Indeed, this is very cool news for those of you out there who are social media addicts. If you don’t know much about Pinterest, allow for me to enlighten you. Pinterest gives its 20 million monthly visitors the ability to collect and share digital images and link them to websites. In simple terms, the way it works is it incorporates this unique pinning feature that makes it easy for users to show love to brands they like, which is great for companies pitching its products.

So Pinterest is open to everyone, now there’s no excuse for your closest friends or family to get with it.
