Display experts from DisplayMate claim that the new iPhone has the highest contrast rating of any mobile device they have seen. Moreover, they say that the iPhone 5’s screen also has improved screen reflectance and significantly improved color quality and color accuracy.

The iPhone 5’s screen is “not perfect and there is plenty of room for improvements (and competitors) but it is the best smartphone display we have seen to date based on extensive lab measurements and viewing tests,” DisplayMate said.

Detailing “room for improvements” DisplayMate noted that the white point is still “somewhat too blue like most smartphones,” while at maximum brightness the iPhone 5 has a shorter running time than the iPhone 4.

The full report, which BTW compares the iPhone 5’s display with the one Samsung Galaxy S III rocks, is available from here.
