HTC has a very nice treat in store for fans of its One line of smartphones who haven’t gotten the chance to pick one up yet. The manufacturer is introducing a special edition version of the One S, dubbed the One S SE, that gives the device an elegant new white color as well as a generous boost to 64GB of internal storage.
Other than that, the specs we know from the standard HTC One S haven’t changed. The SE model comes with a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear-facing camera with 1080p video recording, a 1650 mAh battery, Beats Audio speakers. It’s possible that the One S special edition may run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but the exact version for the SE model is unknown so we’ll have to assume it’s running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich like the regular One S.
The bad news about the One S SE is that it only appears to be shipping in Taiwan right now. Hopefully HTC will start launching the One S SE website in North America and other countries soon to signal its arrival elsewhere.
The HTC One S is actually an excellent phone, but due to a number of factors such as fierce competition from Samsung and poor marketing, it never reached the success it’s capable of. It also frequently sacrifices much of the spotlight to its bigger brother, the HTC One X. The One S SE should give HTC a small push in sales, even if it’s only temporary.
