Sony Mobile has started rolling out a small update for the Xperia T (aka the Bond phone) and Xperia TX. No it doesn’t pack Jelly Bean and we’re not sure when your particular unit will get this software, since the availability and scheduling will “vary by market and carrier requirements.”

Here’s what you’ll (eventually) get:

  • Screen Mirroring – so you can wirelessly beam your phone’s screen to a TV, presuming your TV set supports Miracast (or you’re using an external dongle).
  • Extended standby mode – according to Sony, Xperia T and Xperia TX users can expect increased standby time by up to 4 times. When the screen has been in sleep mode for a few minutes, all data traffic will temporarily be disabled and most applications will become inactive to make this happen. Don’t worry though, as core functions like calling and messaging will work as normal.
  • Updated media applications – including Movies, WALKMAN and Album apps, all of which were slightly tweaked.
  • HD Voice – Xperia T owners (not Xperia TX) will benefit from improved voice quality with “more natural sound filtering out distracting background noise.”

So when your Xperia T/TX prompts you to update, “push the button” and take it from there.
