Facebook updates iOS, Android apps with sharing feature

Facebook updated its mobile apps for iOS and Android today to include a few small new features. The most notable one is the inclusion of a Share button on certain posts. Just like on facebook.com, you can now re-share posts (somewhat similar to Twitter’s retweet functionality) from the smartphone apps to all of your friends. This feature is also present in the mobile web app.

Aside from sharing, there are a couple other new goodies worth mentioning. If you begin typing a friend’s name in any status or comment, a list will come up and you can tap the name to tag them in that post. Smileys and other emoticons in messages and news feed sorting in the left sidebar are apparently new features in this release as well, but I could have sworn I had both of those in the previous version of the iPhone app.

The update is live in the App Store and in Google Play.
