Last time we’ve heard, Windows Phone 7.8 will launch in early 2013. However, the new rumor suggests that may happen sooner than expected with Nokia Lumia 510 already caught running it. The information comes from the Chinese website winp.cn, which also got the play with Windows Phone 7.8 on Nokia’s entry-level smartphone.

As you probably know from our previous writing on the matter, the idea behind Windows Phone 7.8 is to provide existing Windows Phone 7 device owners with an experience similar to the latest version of the platform (Windows Phone 8). In that sense, it will pack a new Boot screen, new Start screen, resizable Live Tiles as well as some other enhancements.

Most, if not all, Windows Phone 7 devices are eligible for update though some OEMs could block the effort, or at least not do what it takes to prepare their respectable phones for the update. LG Optimus 7 could be one of those devices not receiving Windows Phone 7.8 and we hope the list stops there… Anyway, here’s the mentioned video of Lumia 510.
