Almost missed this… Amazon Appstore is now live in Japan, bringing its vast selection of apps and games, along with the ever-convenient one-click payments to the local Android users. Of course, aside from global best-sellers the store also offers “local favorites” and apps from “top-tier brands like Square Enix and NTT Docomo.” In addition, there are other Amazon-specific benefits like “Free App of the Day” and personalized recommendations.

The online retailer began accepting app submissions in October 2012, though at that time it hasn’t announced when its Appstore will launch. Now we know they wanted to do that “by the end of 2012.”

Aside from Japan and the US, Amazon Appstore is also available in the UK, Italy, France, Germany and Spain.
