Wireless charging technology is already here but it’s everything but widely used, though we gotta give it to Google and LG for integrating it in the Nexus 4. However, this wireless charging still requires dedicated docking stations that are on their end connected to the power plug with a cable. While that’s not generally a problem, Apple thinks it has a better solution and has recently filed a patent for its own wireless charging technology with the USPTO.

Titled “Wireless Power Utilization In A Local Computing Environment,” the patent relies on the near-field magnetic resonance to push power to compatible devices from a central unit. By creating some sort of an invisible bubble, your gadgets will be able to recharge without the need for cords or plugs of any kind. In other words, to recharge your device you would just have to set it down on your desk. Pretty cool, though I would say we’re still few year from seeing this technology in action…

I really do not like that apple is trying to patent this and claim it’s something new. it’s already been invented! companies have filed patents for this as early as 2008. and secondly, tesla invented wireless charging in oh… 1893.
