It looks like LG’s forthcoming Optimus G2 won’t be competing with the likes of Oppo Find and HTC Droid DNA/Butterfly, and will rather go for the folks looking to buy a phablet device such as the Samsung Galaxy Note II. According to Korean publication Asiae, LG’s next flagship will rock a 5.5-inch 1080p screen as well as other high-end specs like Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Prime quad-core processor clocked at 2GHz, LTE connectivity support and some kind of advanced camera on the back.

Bear in mind this is still in the rumors phase, but we do hope some of it is true. Like that still unannounced Qualcomm processor which may be in the pipeline for launch next year. However, I don’t like such big screens cause they make the phones less pocketable. I hardly used to 4.7-inch one and while I’m willing to give 5-inch displays a shot I would say that will be the line I won’t cross. But that’s just me – we all know Galaxy Note II is selling pretty well so the screen (and consequently the device) size may not be the issue anymore…

I don’t like such big phones, either. I’m not sure my pockets will be able to handle 5 inches, let alone 5.5 inches.

My nephew has a Galaxy Note 2. It slides into my shirt pocket perfectly without the protective case. Slides in okay with the case on…not sure which brand of case. Didn’t pay attention cuz I don’t like cases. Why have a slim phone only to bulk it up? Anyway, the bigger the better for me. Smartphones aren’t just for talking anynore and a larger screen will make everything else I do on mine easier.
