One technology that’s been in the works for a while is curved glass displays. Samsung has shown off standalone flexible glass panels in the past, but this year the company finally embedded this technology into a working device.  While at CES, Anandtech spotted these sweet-looking screens in a handful of prototype devices that Samsung had on display under its YOUM brand.

Samsung showcased phones with screens that curved either around the sides or around the top and bottom of a device. According to Anandtech, both the display and the touchscreen layer curved gracefully around the sides of the phone.

From an aesthetics point of view, the curved glass is an attractive addition to a smartphone. It will be interesting to see how manufacturers use this unique screen real estate if or when this technology finally lands on commercially available handsets.
