RIM is putting the final touches on its BlackBerry 10 platform and is poised to announce its first BB10 phones at the end of the month. We’ve already seen a steady stream of leaks, especially recently, about RIM’s upcoming phones. Today, TechRadar is adding some specs to this growing body of leaked information.

TechRadar got a hold of a straining document that, among other things, details the specs for RIM’s BlackBerry 10 L-Series handsets. The phone is expected to launch as the Z10 and will rock mid-range specs with a 4.2-inch, 1280×768 HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, and an 1,800 mAh battery. Connectivity options include all the standards like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and cellular 4G.

RIM is holding its big BlackBerry 10 press event on January 30. Stay tuned for all the details at the end of the month.

    How is that mid-range specs?

I consider phones like the newly announced Ascend D2 and Xperia X, with their quad-core processors,1080P displays and 13-megapixel cameras to be the new high-end standard. A 4.2-inch screen with an 8-megapixel camera compares favorably with the Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5, which are last year’s models. Last year’s leaders often become next year’s mid-range competitors.
