We’ve already wrote about Super Bowl’s affect on mobile app usage (insignificant) and now we have another piece of the puzzle to add to the story, with the help of a neat infographic prepared by Millennial Media.

As you would assume, many viewers were watching Super Bowl with a mobile device in hand. Whether they were using social apps to keep a running commentary, looking up statistics to solve arguments, or checking out mobile content during downtime, they stay engaged with their mobile devices during the big game.

On Millennial Media network, smartphone users accounted for 87% of all connected device traffic — only 13% were tablet users. However, post-game, tablet users peaked to 20% of total traffic.

When it comes to app usage, during the game, users were accessing games, entertainment content, communications, social, productivity & tools, music & audio, shopping & retail, media & video, news and sports apps.

Finally, it’s interesting to note how Baltimore and San Francisco fans reacted pre- and during the game. Here’s the infographic summing it all up…
