Google plans to launch retail stores in the US, says WSJ

Google is planning to launch its own retail stores across the United States, according to the Wall Street Journal. This picks up from the rumor that started last week, claiming that the search giant was pondering a roll-out of retail stores nationwide. WSJ believes these special stores are expected to see the light sometime this year. However there is a possibility that Google may opt to hold plans off until next year.

The store will carry many of the things Google sells online or through third-party retailers such as Chromebooks, its own Nexus branded Android phones, tablets, and experimental products like its sphere-shaped Nexus Q media streaming box.

Unfortunately, the WSJ says it’s not clear when or where stores will open and that plans are subject to change. Google hasn’t confirmed anything as of yet.
