You may’ve noticed how today’s touchscreens can be imprecise. The technology is still not perfect but it’s getting there steadily with companies like Synaptics constantly pushing the barrier forward. Their newly launched ClearPad 3400 is a high-performance capacitive touchscreen solution specially tailored for premium smartphones (and phablets) with displays of up to six inches.

Here’s what the press release says about it:

Building on the strength of the ClearPad 3200, the ClearPad 3400 features a redesigned Analog Front End (AFE), an integrated charge pump, and advanced filtering algorithms for industry-leading Signal-to-Noise (SNR) and Signal-to-Interference performance. With the highest level of noise immunity, ClearPad 3400 performs with precision even in the presence of noise interference, which can be exacerbated by a range of factors, including the use of noisy handset power supplies. ClearPad 3400′s high SNR and advanced algorithms also enable accurate multitouch performance under a wide range of scenarios, such as in the presence of moisture or with gloved fingers.

In other words, we can expect even better phones in the future that will allow simultaneous pen and finger touch recognition, while providing us with never before seen accuracy. Can’t wait. ;)
