Accel VOYAGER is touted as the first connected car smartphone

Israel-based Accel Telecom launched VOYAGER, touting it as the “first standalone Connected Car Smartphone device” that can be easily installed in any car and operates using an existing phone number via a twin-SIM.

VOYAGER is made to provide drivers with a safer and superior Connected Car experience, combining Android with an HSUPA Qualcomm module to deliver a “driver centric device” that ensures safer calling, easy navigation and other car focused applications.

We don’t have the specs sheet yet, but we do know that the Accel’s baby comes with large physical keys, crystal clear sound quality and an in-car 3G Wi-Fi Hotspot connection. In addition, it also connects to the vehicle to allow car diagnostics, fleet management applications and more.

The phone itself is rather ugly and in that sense I can hardly envision a ton of drivers buying one of these for themselves. On the other hand, we may be talking about a niche product (I’m not sure) for folks who are always on the road. Not sure what to make of it, though.
